BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT/POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT JOB DESCRIPTION

Providers providing behavioral support shall follow the guidelines of the SCL and Michelle P Wavier.  The service must be provided by a specialist who has a master’s degree with formal graduate course work in behavioral science, and one year of experience in behavioral programming. This will include contact with consumers as well as guardians, school officials, case managers.  Documentation is to be done weekly to include any and all notes of visits with consumers, guardians, case managers, school officials as well as phone calls.  A Functional Assessment (FA), and Behavioral Support Plan to go along with the Functional Assessment are also required.  Each staff note shall include:  the consumer’s name, the date of service, the beginning and ending times, the signature, date of signature and title of the behavioral specialist.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Has a master’s degree in a behavioral science and one (1) year of experience in behavioral programming.
  •  Has at least (1) year of direct service experience with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Participates in at least six (6) hours per year of professional development or continuing education in the areas of phycology behavioral supports, applied behavioral science, or school psychology
  •   Required SCL training.

QUALIFICATION

  • Individual must be able to travel locally and occasional overnight.
  • Must have good communication skills both written and verbal and perform tasks independently in a suitable time frame.
  •  Performs required documentation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • May require travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Individual must be able to bend, stoop, reach, pull, sit, walk (long periods) and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Be able to work 50+ hours a week at times as operational demands require.

Must also have a valid driver's license and insured vehicle.
